Apple and Microsoft have jointly developed a new iCloud application for Windows 10

Apple and Microsoft worked together to create an iCloud application for Windows 10. Although iCloud was always available on Windows, this new application is distributed through the Microsoft Store and includes a synchronization feature based on the same technology as OneDrive Files On-Demand. This means that users can access iCloud files on a Windows 10 PC without having to synchronize them completely with a computer, which saves disk space.
Initially, the application will only download file information. And with full access to the file or if the folder is marked for synchronization, the entire file contents are downloaded. iCloud will also be integrated into File Explorer in Windows 10 with separate folders for applications such as Keynote, Numbers and Pages. The user will be able to access documents stored on iCloud Drive, images from iCloud Photos, Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders and Safari bookmarks.
It is quite surprising and encouraging to see how Microsoft and Apple work closely together to create applications for Windows, especially since Apple used the latest Windows APIs to synchronize cloud storage. This may give hope that Apple TV and Music services may eventually appear on Windows. The new iCloud application for Windows is already available in the Microsoft Store.
