The other day, Apple released a new ad called Bounce / Jumping to promote its new AirPods wireless headset. The movie is notable for several aspects.
First, it is black and white. Secondly, it is made in the traditional Apple style with an unusual plot and production. According to the plot, the main character – a young man tired by a gray day and working days – is preparing for the next working day. He is going, getting dressed, "stretching" a smile and leaving the house. Before the release, close-ups showcase new AirPods in an updated case with support for wireless charging. As soon as the hero inserts them into the ears and goes out into the street, magic begins – everything from asphalt pavements, bus stops, building walls to automobiles, sewer manholes and pillars becomes soft and springy, like a trampoline. The hero jumps around the city, enjoying each jump to the song Tessellated – I Learnt Some Jazz Today, which plays in the background. In the final scene, the hero jumps high into the sky and sits on the edge of the roof of a multistory building next to the pigeons.
Interestingly, the shooting was done without the use of special effects, and all the tricks performed by professional acrobat on real trampolines.
Finally, thirdly, the advertisement itself was shot in Kiev. In the video you can see Antonovich Street, the Constitutional Court and the unfinished high-rise building at the intersection of Antonovich and Zhilyanskaya streets.
The creation of the movie was engaged in the British studio Pulse Studio. In addition, the well-known Ukrainian studio Radioaktive Film participated in the shooting. She also helped Apple to create advertising Apple Watch, the one that was filmed at the Kiev station.
