Apple has approved the release dates for a headset with augmented reality support at a closed employee meeting in October. The company intends to release the first model of AR-headset in 2022 and its improved version in 2023. This was reported today by verified sources of The Information.
The closed meeting was attended by over 1000 employees. Meeting participants discussed some of the planned features of the smart headset, including 3D scanning and an advanced human detection system.
It is reported that augmented reality glasses from Apple will have a high-resolution display and cameras that will allow you to read the fine print and see augmented reality objects along with real objects. As a demonstration of the last opportunity, the meeting participants were shown a record on which a virtual coffee machine is installed on a real kitchen table surrounded by people. The coffee machine from augmented reality closed the people behind it.
Apple executives said the company intends to ask third-party developers to begin work on applications for smart glasses in 2021. Thanks to this, various applications will be available for the new Apple device immediately after the launch of the gadget on sale.
Apple's first AR headset model is codenamed N301. The company also has already planned an improved version of the gadget, code-named N421, the prototypes of which, according to sources, resemble expensive sunglasses with thick frames.
Earlier, reputable analyst Min-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg sources announced Apple’s plans to launch smart glasses with augmented reality support in 2020. According to the latest report from Kuo, the presentation of the new product should occur in conjunction with iOS 14 at the WWDC 2020 developer conference.
