Apple believes the logos are similar.
Apple is suing Prepear for using a similar logo. According to Apple's claim, Prepear's green pear logo bears a resemblance to the American manufacturer's logo. This was reported by MacRumors with reference to Apple lawyers.
Apple's lawsuit against Prepear says the bitten apple's logo is so famous and recognizable that Prepear's pear logo makes consumers believe in a connection between the companies.
Apple noted that Prepear is releasing a nutrition and health app in the App Store. This makes logo similarity more important, Apple said, as Apple is also developing health-care services and apps.
One of Prepear's co-owners said the company had no plans to confuse consumers and try to create associations with Apple. Another co-owner created a petition on the Change website urging people to "protect Pear from Yabloko." One of the requirements in the petition is to authorize small brands to register trademarks containing fruit names. At the time of this writing, more than 21,000 people have signed up for the petition.
