New operator policy.
General Director of VimpelCom (Beeline brand) Alexander Torbakhov announced the operator's plans to stop imposing paid subscriptions on subscribers. This practice is unacceptable and toxic, in the long term, leading to subscribers leaving for other operators, Torbakhov said.
Beeline has taken a number of measures to reduce the spread of toxic content. The operator has tightened the requirements for content providers, obliging them to bring the pages with the subscription rules to a single format convenient for customers.
Also, Beeline has changed the rules for confirming paid subscriptions. To finally activate the paid service, the operator's subscribers will have to enter their phone number, and then additionally confirm the operation by entering the code from the SMS.
Beeline will fine content providers for violating the new rules, the operator said.
According to the RBC publication, Beeline's subscriber base decreased in the second quarter of 2020 by 8.4% compared to the previous year. It is also known that the operator's subscriber base has not grown since the second half of 2016.
