The iOS 14 code released last week confirmed Apple’s plans to work on less expensive iPhone SE 2 and iPhone SE 2 Plus smartphones (they are also iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus). According to the publication 9to5Mac, which has access to the iOS 14 code leaked to the Internet, smartphones will receive 4.7- and 5.5-inch displays, respectively, and will replace the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus for sale.
The code leak confirmed that the new less expensive iPhone models will be equipped with the A13 Bionic processor, like the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. New items will receive displays with wide frames and a touch button "Home" with a built-in fingerprint scanner Touch ID, similar to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
Smartphones will be able to scan NFC tags in the background, for example, to pay for travel in public transport. This option is currently only available on iPhone XS / XR and newer models.
The leak from the iOS 14 code did not indicate the exact name of the new Apple smartphones. It is still unknown how exactly the company will name the long-awaited less expensive iPhone models.
The release of smartphones should take place this spring, tentatively at the end of March.
