It will be possible to search for lost things with the help of Tile trackers and the Locator application.
Apple is developing Bluetooth trackers that can be attached to any object, protecting it from loss. The company did not give official comments on the upcoming new items. But now, insiders have discovered in iOS 13 signs of Apple's preparation for testing new devices. The alleged characteristics and price of the new product were previously reported, but the exact functionality of the device is not yet known.
Trackers will be controlled using the new Locator application. The “Devices” tab will appear in it, in addition to the iPhone, the connected key fobs will be displayed. In the event of loss of personal belongings, the user will be able to put the tracker attached to them into the loss mode. After that, the keychain is automatically synchronized with any Apple device that is nearby. The screen displays the information specified by the owner of the Tile tracker, which will allow an outsider to contact the owner of the lost item.
According to information from insiders, the Apple Tag will receive support for Bluetooth Low Energy technology for standby mode with minimal power consumption and NFC for reading information from the key fob when the phone is brought to it. It will also have a built-in speaker to facilitate the search and a stripped down version of iOS that allows you to sync with your iCloud account.
Apple Tag will be integrated into the new augmented reality environment that the company is actively working on. It was reported that trackers could be searched using AR. We also recall that recently in the iOS 13 code they found evidence of preparation for testing Apple Glasses – augmented reality glasses.
