Even after updating iOS 12.1.4, there are problems with Group FaceTime. Apple is aware, but does not say when the next fix is released.

A few weeks ago, a vulnerability was discovered in FaceTime group calls that provided the caller with an undeclared opportunity to eavesdrop by using a microphone and even spy on the person on the other side of the line before he accepted the call. At first, Apple turned off the group call feature at the server level, and later this failure was fixed as part of the iOS 12.1.4 update, and it was impossible to eavesdrop or spy on the interlocutors.
But as it turned out, even after installing the iOS 12.1.4 update and activating it on the Apple servers, the Group FaceTime function was not properly restored. The next day after the release of the iOS 12.1.4 update, a discussion thread appeared on the MacRumors forum, in which users complain about the impossibility of adding new subscribers to the FaceTime group call when it was started one on one. The add button of the interlocutor remains gray and inactive. In other words, if two users started a group conversation using FaceTime, then adding other users to the conversation will not work.
That’s good. Also, note that the FaceTime Group has been launched. If you’re still an issue with more users: https://t.co/GDrqU22YpT

The only way to add other people to a group conversation is initially to attract at least two users to it when you activate group communication. When the three communicate, add additional participants in the conversation is already possible. This slight difference causes confusion among many users. In addition, in some cases, even this trick does not allow you to add other users.
One of the participants of the forum MacRumors turned to Apple support service with this problem. He was told that the button to add a person to the conversation does not work in this situation, the company is aware of this problem, but there is no information yet when this error will be fixed.
