The agency will ask Apple to fix the problem.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has admitted that Apple is abusing its dominant position in the iPhone app distribution market. The department issued such a verdict after conducting an investigation at the request of Kaspersky Lab.
The FAS found that Apple has a 100% share of the distribution market for applications for devices based on the iOS operating system. This is because the legal installation of applications on the iPhone and iPad is possible only from one source – the App Store.
The FAS also found Apple guilty that the company reserves the right to exclude any application from the App Store, "even if it meets all Apple's requirements."
Based on the results of the investigation, the FAS will issue an order to Apple to eliminate the violation. In what concrete way the American company should correct the violation, the Russian department did not specify.
As the deputy head of the FAS Alexey Dotsenko noted, it is extremely important to create non-discriminatory conditions for market access to ensure competition.
