For the second quarter of this year, 12.3 million smart watches were sold (an increase of 44%), with Apple, Samsung and Fitbit leading the way.

Research company Strategy Analytics published a report for the second quarter of 2019, according to which over the period 12.3 million smart watches were sold worldwide, which is 44% higher than a year earlier (8.6 million). Apple remains the absolute leader in the category, Samsung is in second place, and Fitbit closes the top three.
So, Apple has put on the market 5.7 million smart watches Apple Watch, which is 50% more than a year earlier (3.8 million). The company's market share was 46.4%, which is 2% higher than last year. In turn, Samsung was able to sell 2.0 million smart watches, which is more than twice as high as last year's 0.9 million devices. The market share grew from 10.5% to 15.9%, however, it is three times less than that of Apple.
But the third company of the Fitbit leaderboard did worse – if a year ago it occupied the second line with the result of 1.3 million, now it was able to sell only 1.2 million smart watches, giving way to Samsung. Accordingly, the company's share decreased from 15.2% to 9.8%. All other companies in total occupy a market share of 27.9%, selling about 3.4 million smart watches, which is noticeably better than 2.6 million a year earlier. Note that these statistics do not take into account the performance of fitness bracelets.

Recall that, according to the same company, Strategy Analytics for the full year 2018, 45 million smart watches were sold, which is 54% higher than in 2017.
