Newly made smartphones.
Today, September 19, Huawei at an official event in Munich presented to the public its new smartphones – the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro.
As previously assumed, the flagship smartphones have lost support for Google services. There is no Play Store, YouTube, Google Maps and other search giant applications in the news. Alternatively, Huawei offered users its own app store.
Also, new items now work on the free version of Android. The shell is the same – EMUI 10.
Design and screen
The older version received an innovative “waterfall” screen, bent around the edges. The Mate 30 is 6.62 inches and the Mate 30 Pro is 6.53 inches. The screen of the younger version is completely flat. The difference in the size of the display is due to a cutout in the screen, which is much larger in the older version. This is due to the appearance of a 3D face scanner. At the same time, the overall dimensions of the devices are practically the same.
Both flagships are equipped with an advanced OLED matrix. The resolution of the older version is 2400 x 1176 pixels, the cheaper – 2340 by 1080. Another important innovation is support for the Always-on Display mode. The option allows you to view the date, time, notifications and battery charge in locked mode. The fingerprint scanner on the screen has not disappeared anywhere – it is in both versions.
Mate 30 Pro has lost side keys, instead of them are now special touch edges.
To adjust the volume level, users need to swipe along the side face. And it works both on the left and on the right side. In addition, touch edges can be used when working with embedded applications or the camera.
Smartphones are offered in the following colors: black, silver, green and purple. There are two options with a faux leather back panel – in orange and green colors.
Smartphones received the latest Kirin 990 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of internal memory. Both devices are protected against ingress of water and dust according to the IP68 standard.
The smartphone battery capacity is 4200 mAh and 4500 mAh, respectively. The indicators are certainly impressive – even by today's standards. There is support for wireless charging (up to 27 watts), as well as wired charging (up to 40 watts).
Huawei has seriously pumped cameras. In the older version there are now 4 of them.
The main camera is a 40 MP Cine Camera module for shooting video. This lens features a record size sensor – 1 / 1.54 inches (previously this figure was 1 / 1.7 inches). Focal length – 18 mm. The capabilities of this camera are truly outstanding. The module is capable of slow motion shooting at 7680 frames per second. And all this at 720p. A similar opportunity was previously available only in professional cameras.
The second lens is a 40 MP module for taking photos. The size of the sensor is 1 / 1.7 inches. Optical image stabilization is supported.
The third module is a telephoto lens. There is support for triple optical zoom. Hybrid zoom – 5x, digital – up to 30x. There is optical stabilization.
The fourth lens is a ToF camera. The module is capable of measuring the exact distance to the object. This sensor allows you to take portrait shots with a great blur effect.
The camera of the younger version is simpler. The Mate 30 supports slow-mo shooting at 960 fps at 720p. The lenses themselves are 40, 16 and 8 megapixels, the fourth sensor is responsible for laser autofocus.
Huawei Mate 30 8/128 GB: 799 euros.
Huawei Mate 30 Pro 8/256 GB: 1099 euros.
Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G: 1,199 euros.
