Intel introduced the characteristics of processors for laptops of the 10th generation
To the recently announced 10th generation of Intel processors, the company has added several more models. The range, expanded by four U-series processors and four Y-series, was codenamed Comet Lake, and its purpose is to use in laptops and other portable devices. It is likely that these processors with sufficiently low thermal characteristics will be involved by Apple in the production of a new generation of MacBook Air.
The 10th generation Intel Core lineup includes recently announced high performance laptop devices. Now the brand has introduced eight more processors that have less impressive features. Some of them can be used in the MacBook Air, whose current models use low-power Y-series processors. True, you should not expect that we will see them in the 2019 models; most likely, the new product will be installed in the MacBooks of 2020.
What processors showed Intel?
So, among the new processor models, one can note the Core i7 – 10710U with a 6-core 12-stream chip with a frequency of 1.1 GHz and 12 MB of cache. A little lower is the 4-core Core i7 – 10510U processor with 8 threads and 8 MB of cache, and a base operating frequency of 1.8 GHz. Core i5 – 10210U is a 4-core 8-thread chip, which contains 6 MB of cache memory and such a frequency of 1.6 GHz. At the end of the line, we are waiting for a 2-core 4-line Core i3 – 10110U with 4 MB of cache and a frequency of 2.1 GHz.
The announced U-chips have support for DDR4 and LPDDR4x memory, as well as support for the Thunderbolt 3 controller. We should also expect support for Intel Adaptix technology, which will allow using voice assistants to control the PC system.
A series of Y-chips begins with a Core i7 – 10500Y processor with 4 cores and 8 threads. The device has 8 MB of cache and operates at a frequency of 1.2 GHz. Following are almost two identical Core i5 processors – 10310Y and 10210Y, each with 4 cores, 8 threads and 6 MB of cache. Only the first operates at 1.1 GHz, and the second at 1 GHz. The junior model of the series is the 2-core and 4-thread Core i3 – 10110Y, which has 4 MB of cache and operates at a frequency of 1 GHz.
Both lines are aimed at lower power consumption, which will allow them to become relevant in the production of compact digital devices. Intel claims that the first models with these processors will appear on the market closer to the holiday season.
