As the timeline for the official announcement of the next-generation Apple smartphones approaches, more and more rumors about these devices appear on the network. Another leak, published as a video on the EverythingApplePro channel, reveals the likely characteristics of the iPhone 12 Pro model.
One of the most significant improvements in the upcoming Apple iPhone 12 Pro smartphone will be the new ProMotion display. It will provide an image refresh rate of 120 Hz. The frequency of 90 Hz, which can be found in some smartphones on the market, Apple decided to skip. At the same time, ProMotion technology will allow you to intelligently switch between different operating modes with different refresh rates, depending on the type of content displayed. Thus, depending on the movie or game being displayed, the actual frequency may be 24 Hz, 60 Hz or 120 Hz. In tasks such as browsing websites or reading e-books, the frequency will automatically decrease to save battery power.
A higher display refresh rate will increase the load on the battery. Also, the adoption of 5G communication standard support will affect energy consumption. Thus, the new iPhone 12 Pro will receive a battery with a larger capacity compared to its predecessor.
It is additionally noted that a ProMotion display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz will be available only in the Pro version, and iPhone 12 models without a Pro end will receive a display with a refresh rate of 60 Hz.
It also became known that in the smartphone iPhone 12 Pro, Apple will reduce the size of the cutout, which houses the camera and components of the Face ID system. However, despite the miniaturization of components, Apple is also working to expand the functionality of the Face ID system. This system in the iPhone 12 Pro will be able to work not only with large tilt angles, as in the iPad pro, but will also receive new dynamic sensing algorithms that will allow you to enlarge individual elements of the face and more effectively track them. It is not specified whether Face ID will be able to work in landscape mode.
According to available information, Apple tested a 64-megapixel camera, but was forced to abandon its use due to poor performance of the autofocus system. Therefore, the new iPhone 12 smartphones will come with a 12-megapixel sensor and improved autofocus, which work 2-3 times faster compared to the current generation. This is partly due to the use of the new LiDAR sensor, which will also improve the quality of shooting in low light conditions.
Together with an improved electronic image stabilization system, it will improve the shooting of Slow Motion video, night sky and night scenes. In addition, with the help of LiDAR it will be possible to improve the quality of portrait photographs. Shooting portrait videos will also be improved, but this function may not appear immediately, but will be released along with subsequent updates to the operating system or even with the announcement of the iPhone 13, since at the moment this function does not provide a satisfactory result.
The operation of the Smart HDR function will also be improved thanks to better noise reduction. The telephoto camera will be able to 3x optical zoom, as well as support for night shooting. However, for the ultra-wide-angle module, these improvements are not provided. But it is planned to improve the operation of the Digital Zoom function by implementing a 30-fold increase in it compared to the 10-fold increase in the current generation.
