Support will only be on the iPhone 2021.
Smartphones from the iPhone 12 line will not support the fastest 5G networks in the mmWave range, the theoretical bandwidth of which exceeds 1 Gb / s. This was reported today by analysts at the technology company Susquehanna, citing its own sources.
According to experts, the new iPhone of 2020 will only support 5G networks with a frequency of less than 6 GHz. Models with network support in the mmWave range will not be released by Apple until 2021. It is reported that Apple plans to develop its own antenna module for smartphones with support for 5G networks.
The throughput of fifth-generation networks in the mmWave range exceeds 1 Gb / s. The speed in networks at frequencies below 6 GHz is 100-150 Mbit / s. Currently, leading operators are engaged in the introduction of networks in the range up to 6 GHz. Most often they use networks in the extended range of 3.5 GHz (3.3 – 4.2 GHz).
Note that a previously respected analyst Min-Chi Kuo announced the likelihood of smartphones leaving the iPhone 12 line with support for mmWave networks in countries where such 5G networks have already been launched. The specialist did not disclose other details about the regional differences of the upcoming Apple smartphones.
