There are a lot of them.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has presented a list of applications that will have to be preinstalled on smartphones, tablets, computers and televisions with Smart TV function under the so-called "law against Apple." The list includes 10 types of applications proposed for approval by the authorities.
Applications for preinstallation on devices sold in Russia include:
search engine, antivirus, navigator, messenger, social network, an application for access to electronic government, an instant messaging service, a mail service, an application for viewing all-Russian television or radio channels, an application for using national payments.
Note that the FAS has formed only a list of application types required for pre-installation. Manufacturers will have the right to choose applications of the listed types from among the popular ones. According to the decision of the department, only popular applications with at least 100 thousand unique users per month will be suitable for pre-installation.
The FAS document notes that from July 1, 2020, smartphone manufacturers will have to preinstall a search engine, map and navigation services on smartphones sold in Russia. The requirement to install other types of applications will enter into force on July 1, 2021, the document emphasizes.
