New Mac Pro – Apple's Most Maintainable Device in Recent Years

The reputable iFixit website gave the new Apple Mac Pro a near-maximum score of 9 out of 10. The maintainability of the device turned out to be on top: the experts praised the computer for its modular design, which allows you to get to almost all PC components and replace them without special tools, and in some cases tools are not required at all. This is completely unlike Apple, whose gadgets are usually poorly disassembled, for which they always get low marks. So, for example, iPhone 11 Pro Max received from iFixit 6 out of 10 points, and MacBookPro 16 2019 – and at all 1 point.
“Opening” the case leads to a blackout of the computer, since the power button on the case is connected to the motherboard through special POGO-contacts. In Mac Pro, there are very few wires, everything is connected via contacts. Disassembling a PC is simple – in order to access the components, it is usually enough to press the latch or slide the latch. The system is cooled by three large fans in the rack and one on the rear panel, which removes heat. A huge plus is that many components use standard connectors.
Meanwhile, iFixit notes that users will be able to replace only a few details. Most will be difficult to find for sale, or they will be too expensive. And with SSD in general the whole problem. It turned out that the solid-state drive of the computer is tied to the T2 security chip, so changing it yourself will not work. IFixit experts say that the new Mac Pro in terms of maintainability is a cut above its predecessors.
