The 120 Hz display in iPhone 12 Pro can adversely affect battery life

Have to make sacrifices.
Equipping the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max with displays with a refresh rate of 120 Hz can reduce their battery life. According to analyst Ross Young, the displays for the new iPhones will not support LTPO technology, and therefore either the maximum screen resolution will decrease when working with an increased refresh rate, or the energy consumption of smartphones will increase.
Young noted that information about equipping the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max with OLED screens with an increased refresh rate is at the rumor level. Apple will certainly come up with super-smooth displays, but due to manufacturing limitations of Samsung, which is a supplier of screens for the iPhone, this can only happen in 2021.
Apple can also equip new iPhone screens with a frequency of up to 120 Hz without the support of LTPO technology, which is responsible for dynamically adjusting the refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. In this case, Apple will have to put up with restrictions: the need to lower the resolution to work in 120 Hz mode or reduce the battery life of the iPhone.
