The 14-inch MacBook Pro, the new iMac Pro, and the new iPad (all with mini-LED screens). What else to expect from Apple in 2020?

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, known for his accurate predictions about Apple devices, said the company is working on a new MacBook Pro with a diagonal of 14.1 inches, as well as the new 27-inch iMac Pro and iPad mini with a 7.9-inch display. These three potential devices, as well as the updated 16-inch MacBook Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro and 10.2-inch iPad will receive backlit displays on mini-LEDs (mini-LED), writes the publication MacRumors with reference to a recent letter from the analyst .

Mini-LED backlit displays offer significant advantages in terms of brightness, color reproduction and reliability compared to current models using conventional LED backlighting. It is expected that the transition to mini-LED backlighting will ultimately extend the life of liquid crystal displays, which are now actively replaced by OLED displays in all segments. The possibility of local dimming in LCD panels with mini-LED backlighting will allow them to compete in contrast with OLED displays, which, as you know, are prone to fading.

Returning to the topic of news, Min-Chi Kuo predicted the transition to mini LED displays in the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro in one of the December forecasts. Now the analyst has specified the terms and expanded the list of devices with mini-LED screens to six. The new 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌ and 27-inch ‌iMac Pro‌ are due out in the fourth quarter of 2020. Also in Apple's plans for this year, according to the analyst, the updated 16-inch MacBook Pro, 10.2-inch iPad and the new iPad mini with a 7.9-inch screen.

This new iMac Pro is of particular interest since it will be the first candy bar update since its release in December 2017 (a minor update last year does not count). After the release of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro last year, it is especially interesting what the new iMac Pro will be like.

In a recent note, Kuo first mentions the new 7.9-inch iPad mini. Recall that in March last year, Apple after a four-year break for the first time updated the iPad mini, pulling up the specifications and adding support for Apple Pencil. We can say with confidence that in addition to the new screen, the iPad mini will also receive a more efficient processor. But what will be the design, so far we can only guess.

Also this year, from Apple, in addition to the iPhone 9 (iPhone SE 2) and iPhone 12 (to replace the current iPhone 11), new headphones and wireless charging are expected.

Just last week, Min-Chi Kuo announced that the first Apple MacBooks with their own ARM processors will be released in 2021.
