The company does not consider this a vulnerability.
Developer Tommy Misk discovered a critical vulnerability in the iOS operating system. The “security hole” found on the iPhone allows malicious applications to access user data, including the location of the owner of the iPhone.
The programmer found a vulnerability in the function of recording GPS data when taking photos. If the user allows the standard application “Photos” to write such data, their reading is possible using third-party applications.
The data recorded by the standard function is stored in the internal clipboard. Access to it is provided by third-party applications. Thus, when accessing this data, applications can, without the knowledge of the user, access information about his location, recognized objects in the photo and other information.
According to the developer, he wrote about the discovered vulnerability of Apple. Apple representatives said that this iOS feature is not considered a vulnerability and will not be fixed.
