Updating Windows 10 20H1 will allow you to forget about local copies of the OS.
In the spring of 2020, the Windows 10 operating system will receive a large-scale update 20H1. One of the main innovations will be the ability to reinstall the OS using files from the cloud storage. Thus, the need to store previous copies of the system on SD cards and external drives is leveled.
Users of the test Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18970 were already able to get acquainted with how this works.
When you select reinstallation from the "cloud", you can either save personal files to your PC or completely delete them along with the programs. How much data will have to be downloaded from the network? Not so big – only about 3 GB.
Microsoft says: “The same version of Windows that is installed on your PC will be restored from the cloud. This feature will work on all devices running Windows 10. "
To perform a “cloud” reinstallation, it will be enough to go to “Settings” → “Update and Security” → “Recovery”.
