Fortune magazine this week presented a recent ranking of the world's largest companies Fortune Global 500, the criteria for the compilation of which is the company's revenue. The new rating is notable for several reasons.
This year, for the first time, the Chinese manufacturer of smartphones and other consumer equipment Xiaomi entered the Fortune Global 500 rating. In the overall ranking, it ranked 486 (next to Nokia and NEC) with revenues of $ 26.44 billion in 2018 (55.9% more than a year earlier). Xiaomi's annual profit indicator is about $ 2 billion, assets are estimated at $ 21.15 billion, and the staff is 16.68 thousand people. Interestingly, Xiaomi says that the company has 20,538 employees. In a statement, the head of Xiaomi Lei Zun reported a bonus that each of the company's 20,538 employees would receive on the occasion of joining the Fortune Global 500 rating. The bonus would be 1,000 shares of the company: 500 in honor of being in the Fortune Global 500, and another 500 in as a gift. Taking into account the current value of the share, each employee will receive approximately $ 1,145.
